Evening Swifts

A beautiful hand-carved and hand-printed linocut print on British Somerset cotton paper. Limited edition of 40.  Mounted ready to be framed.

The first print in the edition was selected to hang at The Harley Open Exhibition, Welbeck Estate, Nottinghamshire.

Inspiration

A celebration of swifts, arriving in the UK around May and every summer filling the air with squealing and excitement of fast flying and wheeling.  They whizz over the garden, sometimes so close you hear their wings whooshing past.  When they leave in August, everywhere seems quiet and you think ahead to their joyous arrival again next spring.

How it's made

'Evening Swifts' started as a rough sketch then a finessed hand drawn design that I transferred onto a lino plate.  I hand-carved the plate before mixing my ink and printing each one by hand.  I mixed and printed the edition in a dark blue black ink.

Linocut size 30 cm x 40 cm

Each print is numbered, titled and signed in pencil by Joanna Pass

Mounted in a conservation quality mountboard to fit a 40 x 50cm frame.

Each print is backed with acid free paper and wrapped in cellophane.

Don't forget it's an original print, not a digital reproduction.

I currently only sell to the UK.  The price includes free tracked and insured postage to any UK address.
